The opening ceremony of 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games (SOWSG) was held in Shanghai on the night of October 2.This game was the first one held in Asia with the most participants in history. Every Shanghai citizen was proud of being involved in SOWSG. It is our honor that staff from Shanghai Pudong Charity Hospital also participated the Host Town Program of SOWSG in Zhou Jia Du Community among 40000 volunteers assisting the reception work of American delegation. We were greatly touched during these few days.
    It was a good opportunity for Pudong Charity Hospital to get a first hand experience with this special group who were often ignored by the world. While instead of self-contempt, what you found was a face full of confidence and joy. They rejoiced at participating exercises. The more you got along with them, the deep you would be touched, they taught us how to love and care others.
    "Embraced by the world", it is a national tradition to be unified with the world to balance the harmonious society. SOWSG is an access for the world to know and to accept the special group, changing their disregarded attitude to mentally retarded people. The spirit of SOWSG is not only a spirit of exercise but of participation. Everyone is the participant, everyone is the hero.
    "Let me win, but if I can not win, let me be brave in the attempt!" this is the oath of Special Olympics. Through this meaningful activity , Pudong Charity Hospital sincerely hope that more people will focus on, care, respect and help mentally retarded people, let them feel warm in heart.
